Brussels, 21/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - This Wednesday the European Commission adopted a report that proposes to rationalise and integrate its company support networks. After having examined the visibility and efficiency of this kind of service, it felt it necessary to create a more coherent and simple system. Thus, in the future a single joint network will take the demands from companies and will pass them on to the appropriate, already existing, help services such as the transfer of technologies, information on technologies, renewable energy, start-ups or opportunities for financing and development for companies. Among the support bodies can notably be found, in Central Europe, European Information Centres (EIC), in Asia, the "European Business Information Centres" (EBICs), in Latin America, the EUROCENTROS. Per Haugaard, spokesperson for Commissioner Erkki Liikanen, added that "the Commission wants to promote, through this new network, a culture more orientated towards service". The European executive must adopt a final proposal at the end of 2001.
