Brussels, 21/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised two State aid regimes to support large and medium sized enterprises in the assisted regions of Flanders (Belgium). It concerns a regional investment aid scheme and a soft aid scheme for the 2000-2003 period. According to the Belgian authorities, the annual spending under the scheme could total some EUR 100 million in the years to come. 20 September 2000, the Commission had already approved the Belgian regional aid map for the 2000-2006 period. The approval of these two schemes marks the second important phase of the overhaul of the Flemish regional aid system.
