Brussels, 21/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the Swiss aviation group SAir Group, the REWE group as well as the private independent German bank Oppenheim to take-over the airline LTU. The operation notified to on 20 November to the Commission, foresees that the 49.9% stake of Sair Group remains unchanged, while the REWE distribution group will take a 40% stake and Oppenheim 10.1% acquired from the family shareholders of LTU and WestLB. The Commission notes that neither REWE or Oppenheim are present in air transport, which excludes any overlap between their commercial activities and those of SAir Group or LTU.
