As planned, German C+N TOURISTIC (turnover EUR 4.65 billion in 1999) has acquired the British travel operator THOMAS COOK, an operation that will make it the second largest European operator behind PREUSSAG. For the sum of EUR 890 million, C+N will acquire the shares of the US group CARLSON COMPANIES, that holds 22% of the British company, as well as its purchase option on the remaining 78% belonging to PREUSSAG and to the German bank WESTLB.
