Strasbourg, 01/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Ombudsman, Jacob Soderman has published on his internet site (http: //http://www.euro-ombudsman.eu.int ) the European Commission's final opinion on measures it has taken to remedy the problem of late payments, as well as two documents that the Community Executive had forwarded to him. It is a question of a "Study on the European Commission's payment times" and "Guidelines concerning Commission payment times". The latest measures adopted by the European Commission to speed-up payments date back to July (see EUROPE of 11 July, p.9).
Soderman is asking the public to send in their comments "on-line" until the end of January 2001. Since beginning his enquiry on late payments, he has already received some forty complaints and other contributions.
