ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) tourism

The international travel reservation group AMADEUS (receipts of USD 1.35 billion in 1999) acquired VACATION.COM, the largest American consortium for leisure holiday sales with a network of more than 8,400 travel agencies in the United States and Canada. The acquisition will take place partly in cash (USD 57 million) and partly in options to buy stock. AMADEUS will also absorb the debt of VACATION.COM.
