European Commission opens investigation procedure against fiscal aid systems of three Basque provinces

Brussels, 31/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided to open a formal investigation procedure against three tax exemption systems in the Basque provinces of Alava, Guipuzcoa and Vizcaya (Spain). These systems, said "tax holiday", translate into a tax exemption for companies over ten consecutive fiscal years for new companies created up to 31 December 1994 Several push, according to the Commission, for the banning of these aids.
