Brussels, 16/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs has nominated four candidates for the Sakharov Prize for freedom of spirit, attributed each year by the European Parliament since 1988 to a personality or organisation that has made a significant contribution to the promotion of human rights. With 37 votes, "Basta Ya!", the democratic initiative of the citizens of the Basque Country against terrorism is largely in the lead of this last selection...
