Parliament relaxes some provisions on maximum length of coaches (but European Commission does not agree)

Strasbourg, 06/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report tabled by the Greek member of the EPP Group, Konstantinos Hatzidakis, the European Parliament amended, on first reading (co-decision), the draft directive aimed at harmonising the maximum dimension of coaches. This proposal provides for a maximum length of 12 m for two-axle coaches, 15 m for coaches with more that 2 axles and 18.75 m for coaches pulling a trailer, which corresponds to a road train (HGV pulling a trailer).
