Green light for a joint-venture in computer services between British American Ventures and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young

Brussels, 13/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given the go-ahead to British American Ventures (BAV) and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGEY) to create a joint venture which, under the name Ciberion, will provide specialised computer services in the realm of customer relations management. Subsidiary of the tobacco company British American Tobacco, BAV is a holding company specialised in BAT's non-tobacco investments. CGEY, for its part, is a British subsidiary of Cap Gemini, a provider of services and consultant in information technology. Ciberion will be active in the highly competitive market of information technology services, sector in which CGEY is also active. But because of the fragmented structure of the market and low market shares of CGEY and the presence of other competitors, the operation will not lead to any competitive problems.
