Commission authorises Snecma to acquire Labinal activities in aerospace sector

Brussels, 28/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the French national company Snecma to take the exclusive control of Labinal in the aerospace and aeronautics sector. Snecma, mainly active in the production and maintenance of engines, propulsion systems and other equipment for civil and military aircraft, satellites and space launch vehicles, can thus acquire the activities of the French company Labinal in the gas turbine, connector and other equipment of the aeronautic, space, electronic and armament sectors. In the examination of this operation, the Commission found no overlap of activities likely to affect competition.

EUROPE recalls that the Commission had already authorised at the start of August the sell off of the Labinal automobile parts activities to another French equipment supplier, Valeo S.A. (see Bulletin of 11 August, p.3). This first authorisation was necessary for the acquisition of Labinal by Snecma to the extent that it was unable to keep the automobile products belonging to the Labinal group.
