Parliament modifies Council's "common position" on labelling of bovine meat - Entry in to force could be postponed

Strasbourg, 06/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - Adopting a report by Mihail Papayannakis (GUE/NGL, Greek), the Parliament modified, in a second reading in the framework of the codecision procedure, the Council's "common position" on the new bovine meat labelling system that should enter into force (for a first part) as of nest 1 September. The Parliament adopted four amendments that notably call for the removal of the displaying of the animal category (beef, veal, cow, etc.) on the product label....
