Mrs. de Palacio indicates that new Italian plan for Malpensa airport should be satisfactory

Brussels, 02/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European commission should approve a new Italian plan for the transfer of flights, towards and from Milan, between the airports of Linate and Malpensa. Commissioner for Transports Loyola de Palacio indicated to the press that "this Friday I wrote to the Italian Minister for Transports, Pierluigi Bersani, to tell him that this present proposal should be satisfactory, if the conditions, for example regarding the passenger ceiling and the distribution between companies, are respected. Minister Bersani wrote to the commission to present it the proposal, which should be adopted this Friday by the Italian government through decree. Mrs de Palacio added that in his letter he added that the environmental measures taken to limit sound emissions should not effect traffic. She stated that the commission's aim was to establish "a reasonable, balanced and non-discriminatory agreement".
