The French daily Les Echos is reporting that BP AMOCO (United Kingdom) has requested approval by American competition authorities for the acquisition of all assets owned by the US firm ARCO in Alaska. EUROPE would recall that BP AMOCO has been negotiating the acquisition of ARCO for months but that the merger worth nearly USD 30 billion is being held up by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
