TotalFina authorised to take control of Elf Aquitaine but must sell various assets

Brussels, 09/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission authorised the acquisition of Elf Aquitaine by TotalFina, subject to substantial changes to the initial project accepted by the companies concerned. It noted that the commitments undertaken by TotalFina will allow effective competition conditions to be restored in problematical sectors, namely:
