New heads of "professional" Japanese television cameras excluded from antidumping duties

Brussels, 02/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Council of the Union has decided not to implement the definitive anti-dumping duty (in force on the import of television camera systems originating in Japan) on new models entering the "professional" category. It is a question of camera heads and different accessories introduced on the Community market by Hitachi, Olympus, Matsushita, Ikegami, Tsushinki and Victor. According to the Commission, the slight improvements they provide over earlier models that were already excluded from the anti-dumping measures, result from improved techniques in the television camera systems sector but do not affect these cameras as professional camera systems. It thus proposed that the Council, which agreed, exclude these from the field of application of the anti-dumping measures introduced in 1994, a regulation published in the Official Journal No.L/22 of 27 January stipulates.
