Commission believes no new country (after Macedonia) meets conditions for negotiating new agreement, but stresses progress in Croatia and suggests measures for Montenegro and Albania

Brussels, 02/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission approved a Council communication on the "operational conclusions" to be drawn from developments in countries of South Eastern Europe: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FRY (Serbia on one hand and Montenegro on the other), Macedonia (FYROM), and Albania.
