Brussels, 31/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - Australia's Foreign Minister Alexander Downer will meet Portugal's Foreign Minister and EU Council President Jaime Gama, on Wednesday in Lisbon, in the framework of the twice-yearly EU/Australia political dialogue meetings. The discussion is expected to focus essentially on the situation in Indonesia, as Australia pursues international contacts to ensure support for Indonesian President Wahid. Alexander Downer is expected to raise the matter of the setting into place of the transition administration, the Untaet, in Timor. The situation in Kosovo and in Chechnya will probably also be discussed. On Thursday, Alexander Downer will be in Brussels for meetings with the European Commissioners for trade, foreign affairs and education, Pascal Lamy, Chris Patten and Viviane Reding.
