Brussels, 27/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commission considers the public hearings held on Tuesday and Wednesday on the "telecommunications package" were stimulating in that reform of the telecommunications legislation should lead to the second stage in liberalisation of this sector. It noted the observations and comments made by professional circles and consumers before beginning, mid-February, to develop a proposal. The latter should be presented to the next Telecommunications Council to be held in Brussels on 2 May.
The second stage of liberalisation implies simplification of the framework regulation on tariffs and licenses, as well as the stimulation of competition between operators.
