Commission approves acquisition by BellSouth of Vodafone Airtouch's stake in E-Plus

Brussels, 27/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the Commission approved the acquisition by telecommunications company BellSouth of the stake held by Vodafone Airtouch in the share capital of mobile telephone operation E-Plus, whose capital is currently jointly held by these two operators.

Vodafone gave an undertaking to the Commission at the time of its merger with Airtouch that it would sell its stake in E-Plus. BellSouth, which is not active on the German cellular phone market except...
