Brussels, 18/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved the setting up of a joint-venture for the development of Fnac shops in Italy, by the Italian group COIN and French PPR-FNAC. COIN operates on the Italian market of the mass retailing of clothing and accessories. PPR-FNAC is a retailer of leisure products of a cultural nature, which so far has not operated in Italy. The European competition services considered that this operation would not create the risk of the abuse of a dominant position, as neither group are currently active on the same geographic market.
