20/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched the digital product passport (DPP) registry on Monday 20 July, established under Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 on ecodesign for sustainable products, according to a press release. The digital product passport is a digital container of product information intended to strengthen supply chain transparency and facilitate compliance within the single market. Economic operators will have to register each digital product passport in the registry. The registry will support products covered by the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, such as textiles, steel and aluminium, tyres, furniture, ICT products and energy-related products. It will also support product groups covered by other Union legislation requiring registration in the digital product passport (DPP) (large batteries, construction products, toys, detergents and end-user surfactants).
