10/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – European Commission accepted on Thursday 9 July the commitments made by the German giant SAP in order to preserve competition on the market for maintenance of its ‘Enterprise Resource Planning’ (ERP) business management software (see EUROPE 13752/17). These commitments are as follows: - allowing SAP customers to choose different service providers for each contractual part of their system covering ERP products; - allowing customers to reduce the scope of their contracts, or to terminate them, in specific cases (for example: collective redundancies, insolvency, failure by SAP to implement a project); - extending the possibility of using ‘single-metric contracts’ which allow licence fees - on the basis of which maintenance and support charges are calculated - to be calculated differently; - clarifying the duration of licences during which a support contract cannot be terminated; - removing reactivation fees.
