On Tuesday, 7 July, the European Commission published a regulation imposing definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of passenger car and light lorry tyres from China.
These measures came into effect on Wednesday. The imposed duties range from 4.3% to 45.3%. The investigation, which was opened on 21 May 2025 (see EUROPE 13647/12), revealed that imports of this product were being dumped – having caused injury to the European tyre industry, which employs more than 80,000 people across 14 European Union countries.
The European Commission indicates that in 2024, 330 million tyres were sold in the EU – in a market valued at more than €18 billion.
That same year, Chinese imports represented a 28% market share. In addition, an anti-subsidy investigation focusing on the same product range is currently underway and will be completed in December of this year.
