10/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the European Union on Friday 10 July temporarily suspended certain visa provisions for Guinean nationals, because cooperation deemed “insufficient” regarding the readmission of its citizens staying irregularly in the EU was considered inadequate. Member States will therefore no longer be able to issue them with multiple-entry visas or exempt applicants holding diplomatic passports from providing supporting documents or paying fees. The processing time for applications will also increase from 15 to 45 days. At the end of June, Somalia had already been the subject of identical sanctions for the same reasons (see EUROPE 13896/7).
