10/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The representatives of the Member States to the EU appointed, on Friday 10 July, a judge and an advocate general to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Belgian Koen Lenaerts was thus reappointed as a judge at the Court for a term running from 7 October 2027 to 6 October 2033. This appointment forms part of the partial renewal of the composition of the CJEU, with the terms of office of 14 judges and six advocates general due to expire on 6 October 2027. Cypriot Stéphanie Laulhé-Shaelou, for her part, was appointed advocate general at the Court following the resignation of Nicolas Emiliou. Her appointment covers the remainder of Mr Emiliou’s term of office, which will end on 6 October 2027. The decision will enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. (CG)
