22/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and the UK Home Office signed an Administrative Arrangement, on Friday 19 June, making the United Kingdom an observer country in the European Migration Network (EMN). The two parties formalised their cooperation by agreeing to exchange “up-to-date, objective, reliable and comparable information” on asylum and migration in the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe. The EMN compiles data on migration and home affairs in order to guide European Union policy decisions. It already has nine observer countries: Albania, Armenia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine. This Arrangement with the United Kingdom came a few days after the Commission presented an action plan on illegal migration in the English Channel (see EUROPE 13889/15). The Commission had also called for financial support from the United Kingdom for the joint actions provided for under the plan. (JM)
