On Monday 22 June, the European Commission launched a call for projects worth a total of €1.1 billion, with a view to modernising EU transport infrastructure under the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
This is the last call for proposals under the current long-term budget for the 2021-2027 period.
This call for projects will support a number of proposals in the transport field, such as the action plan for high-speed rail (see EUROPE 13746/5), the action plan for the automotive industry (see EUROPE 13821/14), the maritime industrial strategy (see EUROPE 13821/4), the European ports strategy (see EUROPE 13800/1) and the military mobility package (see EUROPE 13755/1).
The call places the emphasis on rail development and the decarbonisation of maritime transport, notably through the deployment of recharging infrastructure in ports. It also supports the electrification of road freight transport and ground operations at airports, as well as the digitalisation of road transport.
Ukraine and Moldova are also included in this call under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The deadline for submitting applications is 6 October 2026.
