On Wednesday 17 June, the deputy permanent representatives of the EU Member States backed the compromise options found at technical level with the European Parliament over the electronic declaration for posted workers, with a view to a trilogue meeting to be held on 23 June that is expected to be conclusive (see EUROPE 13888/24).
The Regulation on a public interface connected to the information system for the Internal market regarding the declaration of the posting of workers (electronic declaration) was proposed in 2024 and is seen to be a crucial tool for the EU’s competitiveness.
The system, which remains voluntary, would allow companies and national administrations to save time and enjoy lower administrative burdens when declaring postings of workers.
The outstanding points concerned the scope of the Regulation, the content and legal drafting of the standard form, as well as the evaluation clause.
Member States broadly approved the results of the technical work and therefore agreed on a revised mandate for the trilogue on 23 June. A new technical meeting is scheduled to take place with the European Parliament on Thursday 18 June. (Original version in French by Solenn Paulic)
