10/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 10 June, the Irish Prime Minister (Taoiseach) Micheál Martin presented the programme of the eighth Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union (see EUROPE 13884/26). This Presidency, which will begin on 1 July, has chosen as its slogan “strength with unity”. “We will give priority to actions aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of European economy, preserving fundamental values of our Union, both nationally and internationally, and guaranteeing the security of our citizens”, the Taoiseach stressed. The Irish Presidency is also highlighting cross-cutting priorities such as support for Ukraine, global engagement, as well as strengthening relations with neighbouring countries and partners around the world. Facilitating a swift agreement on the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework “that can meet challenges of tomorrow, while supporting existing key policies, will be an absolute priority”.
