Dan Jørgensen announces ‘REPowerEU’ regulation for nuclear sector by end of year

04/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy, told MEPs on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) on Wednesday 3 June that the Commission was working on a ‘REPowerEU’ regulation on the nuclear sector, to be presented by the end of the year. A strategy on nuclear fusion is also planned (see EUROPE 13797/14), along with an initiative on isotopes from nuclear medicine. The Commissioner also announced the revision of the framework on energy security “after the summer” and a new framework on energy policy after 2030. An ‘omnibus’ on energy products is also planned. (ND)
