15/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 15 April, the European Union and the United Kingdom formalised the United Kingdom’s membership of the Erasmus+ programme in 2027, the Commission announced in a press release (see EUROPE 13839/18). “This membership will enable British learners, staff, educational establishments and organisations to enjoy the same benefits as those of EU Member States and other third countries associated with the programme. It places people-to-people exchanges at the heart of the new EU-UK agenda and strengthens bilateral cooperation.” This important step fulfils the commitment made at the first EU-UK Summit in May 2025, through the adoption of an amendment to Protocol I of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the Commission adds.
