15/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – In a letter published on Wednesday 15 April (https://aeur.eu/f/lk2 ), more than 350 former ministers, ambassadors and senior European officials, including former High Representative Josep Borrell, called for the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement in the face of Israel’s systematic violations of Palestinian human rights. In their view, “it is unacceptable that, while the human rights of the Palestinians and international law are being systematically flouted, the EU remains divided and in the background without exercising the influence it should have”. They are therefore calling for measures to suspend all or part of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, a ban on trade with the settlements, an end to trade in military equipment with Israel, the suspension of Israel’s participation in EU programmes, sanctions against those involved in the repression of Palestinians and violations of international law, and the establishment of human rights benchmarks to monitor Israel’s future conduct.
