On Thursday 12 February, the European Parliament called on the European Union to increase funding to combat poverty and social exclusion.
By adopting (385 votes to 141 with 53 abstentions) the own-initiative report by Portuguese João Oliveira (The Left), Parliament also called on the European Commission to work towards the eradication of poverty by 2035 at the latest.
