Sweden and Finland call for tougher EU sanctions against Moscow

13/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – In a letter sent to the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs on Monday 12 January, the foreign ministers of Finland, Elina Valtonen, and Sweden, Maria Malmer Stenergard, called for a strengthening of European sanctions against Russia, with new measures targeting maritime services, fertilisers and luxury goods to be included in the 20th package of sanctions currently being prepared.
