05/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – A technical problem affected Greek airspace frequencies on Sunday 4 January, causing delays and cancellations at all the country’s airports. The Athens public prosecutor’s office will be launching an investigation into the causes. “We are in close coordination with Eurocontrol, which is monitoring the situation,” European Commission spokeswoman Eva Hrncirova told a press conference on Monday 5 January. “We have not been requested up till now for any help, but obviously we are engaged and we are ready to cooperate with the Greek authorities”, she added. For its part, the Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination (ATCEUC) has called on the Greek government and members of parliament to urgently undertake significant structural reforms and immediately allocate sufficient financial resources to air traffic management and air navigation services in Greece.
