10/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 10 December, the European Commission appointed six new members and reappointed one current member to the Scientific Council, the governing body of the European Research Council (ERC). The new members will take office on 1 January 2026 for a four-year term. The following professors have been appointed: - Eleftheria Zeggini, who specialises in translational genomics; - Emmanuelle Charpentier, winner of the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and an expert in regulatory mechanisms related to the infection process; - Karin Roelofs, who works on understanding the neurocognitive mechanisms of emotion regulation; - Katerina Kralova, whose research focuses on the post-war reconstruction of Jewish communities; - Michel Campillo, who studies earthquakes; and - Susana Narotzky, who specialises in social reproduction processes. Giovanni Sartor, an expert in legal theory and logic, has been reappointed for a further two years. (AD)
