30/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 30 June, the Council of the European Union renewed for a further six months, until 31 January 2026, the European Union’s restrictive measures sanctioning Russia’s continued actions to destabilise the situation in Ukraine. On Thursday 26 June, European leaders gave their agreement to this renewal, which was signed by the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU on Friday. These measures, first introduced in 2014, include restrictions on trade, finance, energy, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods. It is also forbidden to import or transfer crude oil and certain petroleum products transported by sea from Russia to the EU, several banks have been removed from SWIFT and media outlets have been banned from broadcasting in the EU. In addition, measures have been put in place to counter sanctions circumvention. (CG)
