30/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – In a report published on 26 June, the European Environment Agency (EEA) points out that Europe has proved that a rapid and successful energy transition is possible, with significant progress towards sustainable energy sources in all Member States. Electricity is identified as the sector with the greatest commercial opportunities. However, to achieve the 2030 climate targets, further efforts are essential. In particular, the EEA insists on boosting solar and wind power capacity as a way of maintaining acceptable energy prices, by counteracting the influence of imported gas on pricing. The report therefore calls for capital to be freed up for renewable energies through attractive tax and regulatory frameworks, for flexibility resources across the system to be doubled, and for coordination to be promoted at European level.
