01/04/25 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 1 April, the European Commission launched a public consultation designed to pave the way for a new strategy to promote equality for LGBTIQ people after 2025. This consultation is aimed at citizens and trade unions, businesses and the academic world, to draw up a plan that will “promote and safeguard equal rights for all people across the EU”, which will “boost our economy by drawing on everyone’s abilities and talents”, according to a Commission press release. It comes at a time when “the LGBTIQ community is facing growing attempts to roll back their rights”, as the European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, pointed out in the same press release. And she went on to add: “We must stand tall together to defend the right of each and every one of us to be ourselves”. See the Consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/g7b (NP)
