European Technical Support Instrument for Reforms focuses on economic competitiveness

By 2025, the European Technical Support Instrument for Reforms (TSI) will be supporting 135 projects in the Member States to implement 390 reforms aimed at strengthening administrative capacity, with a particular focus this year on economic competitiveness, the European Commission said on Monday 31 March.

The TSI instrument will support 109 reforms that will help EU countries to improve the business environment, stimulate innovation, invest in decarbonising the economy and promote economic security. For example, in 22 Member States, 38 reforms will aim to reduce the administrative burden hampering the development of SMEs, and to support the growth of start-ups.

According to the Commission, the emphasis in 2025 will also be on supporting the digital transition, with reforms designed to help Member States reap the productivity gains from new technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI). As part of the FutureProof Education project, guidelines for the responsible use of AI in schools will be drawn up in Germany, Sweden and Ireland.
