European Commission launches two new Euratom projects to strengthen cooperation between science and industry

On Thursday, 6 March, the European Commission launched two new Euratom projects in order to strengthen cooperation between science and industry. [The projects] must reflect EU policies on competitiveness, security, and sustainability as well as the ‘Clean Industrial Deal’.

The first project, ‘GO4Fusion’, will help set up a European fusion industry platform and a strategic research and innovation agenda for fusion energy by bringing together nine partners representing the main nuclear research centres and industry leaders.

The ‘Skills4Nuclear’ initiative aims to address shortages in nuclear skills for current and future technologies, such as small modular reactors and fusion energy. Starting in mid-March, the initiative will bring together 19 European partners: universities, research centres, and nuclear and other industrial sectors as well as education and human resources specialists. One of the aims of ‘Skills4Nuclear’ is to lay the groundwork for a nuclear skills strategy for Europe.

GO4Fusion’ and ‘Skills4Nuclear’ are expected to run for three years. (Original version in French by Anne Damiani)
