19/02/25 (Agence Europe) – METI (Mouvement des entreprises de taille intermédiaire - a French advocacy group representing medium-sized companies) has published a survey on the “regulatory complexity” experienced by its members. The conclusions of this survey are presented in the context of the Commission putting forward an ‘omnibus’ text to reduce administrative burden. ‘Mid-caps’ should be exempt from the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), argues METI. As far as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is concerned, only medium-sized companies with more than 1,500 employees should be subject to it. “Our initial impact studies estimate that a medium-sized industrial company faces an average annual compliance cost of €400,000, or 13% of its average annual investment volume”, explains METI.
