09/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 December, the Council of the European Union approved the rapid disbursement to Ukraine of a second tranche of macro-financial assistance worth €4.2 billion, in the form of grants and loans, as part of the €50 billion ‘Ukraine Facility’ for the period 2024-2027. It believes that the Ukrainian authorities have complied with the nine conditions precedent to this payment, particularly in terms of reforms (see EUROPE 13524/28). These include, for example, a revision of the code of criminal procedure to improve the fight against corruption and measures to strengthen the integrity and transparency of the wholesale electricity market.
