On Monday 9 December, the EU Delegation to Cambodia and the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport announced the launch of a new project entitled ‘Supporting Upper-Secondary Technical Education Reforms in Cambodia’.
This initiative is part of a “Twinning” scheme involving exchanges between public authorities. Cambodia thus becomes the first Asian country to benefit from twinning projects, with work exchanges between European officials, education officials from Finland, France and Germany and their Cambodian counterparts.
“This Twinning is a significant step forward for the EU commitment to support Cambodian education reforms”, said Igor Driesmans, EU Ambassador to Cambodia, adding that the focus was on the needs of the private sector, in particular, so that European companies “can invest more in Cambodia”.
The initiative will last 36 months, until the end of August 2027, and will include European-inspired technical education reforms adapted to Cambodia in five general and technical high schools (GTHS) and two universities across Cambodia. (Original version in French by Pauline Denys)
