The regulation creating the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (‘STEP’) continues to show its effects: the Commission has awarded the ‘STEP’ seal to 130 industrial projects in clean technologies, it announced on Monday 9 December. They are now listed on the ‘STEP’ portal, where investors can find information and contact points.
The portal can also be used to encourage Member States to promote labelled projects, through cohesion funds, the recovery plan or the modernisation fund.
The projects selected cover wind turbines, hydrogen-powered engines and CO2 capture.
In order to be awarded the ‘STEP’ seal, projects must meet at least one of the following conditions: they must bring innovative, cutting-edge technology with significant economic potential to the single market, or they must contribute to reducing or preventing the EU’s strategic dependencies.
In October and again in November, the Commission has already selected projects which have received grants from the ‘Innovation Fund’ and Horizon Europe.
