MEPs approve in committee abolition of Online Dispute Resolution platform

03/12/24 (Agence Europe)At a meeting of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) on Tuesday 3 December, MEPs approved by a very large majority at second reading the draft regulation discontinuing the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform. The EU Council approved the European Commission’s proposal at first reading on 19 November (see EUROPE 13527/26), without amending it. The aim of this new regulation is to repeal Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 by shutting down the ODR platform, due to lack of results and with a view to modernisation. In order to adapt these types of recourse to the digital age and simplify them, the Commission has proposed a new version of the directive, known as ‘ADR’ (see EUROPE 13490/2). MEPs will vote on the regulation at the December plenary session. (IS)
