03/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 2 December, the European Commissioner for Equality, Crisis Preparedness and Management, Hadja Lahbib, criticised the suspension of aid deliveries to Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). “UNWRA is unable to deliver and distribute aid in safe conditions. The EU has consistently called for safe and unimpeded access. This is the only lifeline for the millions of Palestinians under siege in Gaza”, said Ms Lahbib on X. The UN agency has no longer had access to Israeli territory since the Israeli Knesset passed laws banning its operations at the end of October (see EUROPE 13516/17). (BD)
