European Parliament calls for more targeted sanctions against Russia’s “shadow fleet”

On Thursday 14 November, the European Parliament called for the adoption of more targeted measures against Russia’s ‘shadow fleet’ of oil tankers in future EU sanctions packages. In their view, this fleet constitutes a “key financial lifeline” for Russia, a “major tool created to circumvent the EU sanctions regime” and a risk to maritime safety.
