European Commission asserts that energy markets have stabilised in second quarter of 2024

In its new quarterly reports on the EU’s gas and electricity markets, the European Commission said on Thursday 24 October that the markets had returned to “a much more stable and predictable situation” in the second quarter of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. The report highlights in particular the record level of renewable energies in electricity production, but also the increase in the number of hours with negative wholesale prices.
